Hellin is a beautiful city, it´s great for walking around. There is an old part of the town, where there are a lot of narrow streets, it´s full of churches like "Asuncion", "Rosario", "San Rafael" and "Franciscanos". also, there are the town hall and aristocratic houses, for example the Count´s house, this is the new museum of the Easter, there are a lot of legends about it. Also, there is a small museum but it´s wonderful.
AN IMPORTANT BUILDING.
One of the most beautiful building in my town is the church "The Asunción". It is in the old town near the town hall. Next to it you can see the village square called "The church square". In the middle there is a big round fontain.
The portico was designed by Vandelvira at the end of 17th century but for the rest of the church nobody knows who the architect was. Construction began in 16th century, but the building wasn´t completed for another 300 years, in the 18th century. The Asuncion was restored four years ago.
Asuncion is the biggest church in Hellín. It is older than the cathedral of Albacete. Asuncion has a magnificent portico with nine statues and you can see an old inscription, which says "Diego García". People think he was a doctor. On the right, you can see a big bell tower. It has three small bells and one big bell also, it has a clock. But the Asunción´s bell tower isn´t as taller as Rosario´s bell tower. Behind the church, it has an arc because it was another vault.
The Asuncion it´s big in the inside because there are three navels and there are sevent chapels, and a lot of impressive sculpture and beautiful paintings. Also it has a big lamp in the middle. In the altar, we can see a lot of statues. The statue of St Asuncion is the most important.
One of the worst things we can´t do is to go up to the bell tower,n because we can see other places and monuments of Hellín, for example the hermitage, the park and the statue of the drummer.
It is free to go in, but you mustn´t speak loudly.
I think you should see the Asuncion.
DESCRIBING A BUILDING
The most beautiful building in my town is Rosario´s church. It is the old town centre of Hellín. The view is fantastic. You can see almost all city, because it is at the highest part of the city.
This church was a mosque. The tower, the oldest part of the church, dates from 1740. Justo Millán, an architect, did a reform in 19th century.
The building is rectangular. It three rooms. The central room is the biggest. Also It has a slender and tall tower, it is a bell tower. Around the church there is a playground with a viewpont, there are trees, a font...
Virgin´s dressing room is very important. It has baroque pictures and rococo decoration. The Virgin Rosario, patron saint of Hellín, is there. In this room, there are signs of the civil war, when people shot religious buildings. Inside the church there is a museum, with an important important collection of rosaries.
Many people want to get married in this church. It is an emblematic place, because de virgin is there, and it is located in a special place.
If I were you, I would visit it. You could see the most important street of Hellín while you go to the church, the musuem of sweets and other beautiful monuments and buildings.
